Terminating Systems Access

Employee access to systems that is no longer necessary should be terminated in a timely manner. As systems shift to web-based applications, this is of particular importance because access is then not dependent upon a specific terminal/location. In order to facilitate a process that ensures appropriateness of access, consider using a checklist of systems access granted to departmental employees. Use the same list to remove or update access when the employee leaves, transfers to a new School, College or Department, or is assigned new responsibilities.
